Volkswagen Group announced the foundation of a subsidiary, VWAT GmbH, to develop ready autonomous vehicles and relevant technologies for the market. VWAT locations are planned to be in Münih, Wolfburg, Silicon Valley and China, and the group, teaming up their forces, will manufacture autonomous driving systems from Level 4. VWAT will be managed by Alexander Hitzinger, Senior Vice President for autonomous driving in the Volkswagen Group and in the first phase develop autonomous driving systems to be used in mobility solutions for urban human and commercial transport.
